We have had shortages of chemotherapy to treat cancer in children and adults. We have had shortages in right now theres a shortage of her really important antibiotic for lifethreatening infections. These are lifeanddeath medicines. Sometimes we can get them and we are rationing medicine in the United States of america. Its really quite remarkable. With the support of the local Cable Television provider, we visited only four cities in the last year. And over the next two hours, we will look and highlight from some of the stops. We begin our special feature in milwaukee. So this is the photograph of the lynching that occurred im august 7th, 1930, near indiana. James cameron was 16 at the time, was supposed to be the third person hanging from the tree. But he miraculously survived the lynching. His two friends abe and tommy, it was like 18 and 19 years old, they were killed that day. By mob. Between ten and 50000 angry white people. This was actually in North Central indiana. Join lynching took place. So you end up writing the book they called the time of the survivor story memoir of the memories of the surviving lynching. For months for months, the senior senator from california and i worked together on a piece of legislation that would reauthorize the violence against women act, a bipartisan effort, an effort that brought the senator and i together in an effort to reauthorize the bill with as much support in this body as possible. Now, we were working together in good faith. To make our way through the issues that affect so many women in abusive situations, partners in abusive situations, Domestic Violence situations where children are involved to find a common path forward to have this bill reauthorized, again with as much possible support in this body, at a time when america views us as so politically divided. So, we are glad that you are here. We are excited to be talking about the memorial. Lets get right to it. With me is harvey pratt. Harvey is a citizen of the cheyennearapaho tribes of oklahoma. He is a cheyenne peace chief. He has been a career Law Enforcement official. He is a working artist. And he is a marine and vietnam veteran. Please greet harvey pratt. [applause] so, harvey, what caused you to submit a proposed design for the memorial . Mr. Pratt well, our veterans director just kept after me. I have no, really had no hope i would even come close or submit a design, but he just kept after me. He said, do it for the tribe, harvey. Come on, submit something. I thought about it. I said, let me dream on it. I have to dream. Some of my best creativity is done early in the morning during that dream period. So thats what i did. I went home and dreamed about it.
