because my body is made of what it was built upon, which is chattel slavery and the intersection of right minded people looking forward. and so, i think about kamala harris standing in ghana, where so many people departed to begin this american story of intersections, and of trying to figure out hope on the other side of wild injustice and oppression. i watched her standing there, and i think, i hope that we can figure out how to hold the truth of it, and to continue to tell the truth, even when it is hard to bear. because, you, know this idea of teaching, of banning teaching critical race theory, is the idea of banning a piece of american history, that the man who wrote the declaration of independence bear witness to. so, i don t even know what it means to claim an american identity, if we can t connect with that ethos.
