that trump himself, the president, is so compromised by russia. whether criminal compromise, whether you can call it collusion, but that all of these different tentacles from the financial to the obstruction of justice, and now to collusion, are leading to just one clear description of the president of the united states. and that i thisnk is scary not only those close to him but scary for the country. and i say it on the air we sometimes have to take a deep breath and realize what is unfoldsing in fronts of us. the other part, congressman, i want to ask you about, is this this story. three on capitol hill asked jeff sessions to appoint a second special counsel carter page. and whether more should be done to investigate hillary clinton s tie toss the russian nuclear energy deal with uranium one. now sessions has said no.
garrett hague and cnn reporter gary. so, garrett does this speak to republicans and what they re going to face in the fall? it s not about redistricting, look at charley dent, another republican who announced he was retiring months ago before this redistricting came into place. a lot of the not necessarily pause they disagree with hi policies because they disagree with how it makes their jobs up here. costello is not somebody who came to congress to answer questions about stormy daniels or about the person in the president s cabinet who got fired this week. this white house has made being in the majority in this congress not fun and not something where members like costello, who s a very active member up here, has worked on big legislation are
congratulations. let s see what the party does next. great to be with you chris. republican congressman charley dent says the result in the 18th district should be a warning sign for the gop. i think most republicans realize we re running into a very serious head wind, hurricane-force win. we have to be ready for it. some are better prepared for these fights than those in safer seats. if you re a republican member in a pretty safe seat like this one was, that s where i d be nervous. joining us now is cnn senior political commentator rick santor santorum, a former pennsylvania senator and before that a congressman from that 18th congressional district. great to see you, rick. great to be with you. you re the person to talk to. it appears at this hour that conor lamb holds this narrow victory? only a couple hundred votes left to be counted in greene
you got the first district and the sixth district here. these are both currently represented by republicans. each of these districts as as they are newly configured by the supreme court rule both voted for hillary clinton over donald trump in 2016. they both got more democratic. two republicans incumbents who are already in competitive districts before these happened. so right there those are go republicans you have to worry about. if you look at the seventh district here, if you look at the fifth, you have republicans, charley dent up here in the seventh. pat lee in the fifth who are not running for re-election. the fifth has become a very democratic district. district seven this looks winnable for democrats. right there you re looking at four prime opportunities for democrats. another one if you go to the e
thank you, chris. i can t get enough of the stick. i m so glad she shod it to us. i believe they were figin with the stick. i would say let s go shot for shot with the stick. whoever wins, they get what they want. whereas i believe somebody could just drop it or not catch it because that s where i come from. you wouldn t catch it but talk anyway and be insulted that someone threw it to you. that s right. meanwhile, a burst of new developments related to special counsel robert mueller s russia investigation. how significant are these? we ll ask republican congressman charley dent of pennsylvania next. i promise, to have and to hold, from this day forward
