PETALING JAYA: Seven cases of snatch thefts that were reported in Kota Damansara were solved on Tuesday when police arrested five suspects including a woman.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal (
pix) said today that the suspects who are aged between 24 and 33 were arrested in Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur at about 6.30pm on Tuesday.
He said three of the suspects had admitted to committing the snatch thefts.
Nik Ezanee said police obtained a two day remand order on the suspects yesterday.
He said one of the cases they are allegedly behind was snatching a gold chain from a 44-year-old private company executive in October last year.

JAYA: Close ties with politicians are enabling crime kingpins to obtain honorific titles and run their illegal activities unhindered.
Former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said enormous political funding by drug lords, loan sharks and gambling kingpins has led to these crooks rubbing shoulders with politicians.
He said favours such as the recommendations of state and federal honorific titles are rendered to the kingpins even when they have criminal records.
“For a start, politicians should stay away from the patronage of these kingpins.
“Politicians should know who their friends are. These kingpins present themselves as philanthropists but they have ulterior motives. They run legal businesses such as nightclubs but these are just a front,” he told

KUALA LUMPUR: The first phase of Covid-19 immunisation for police frontliners here commenced today with 3,135 personnel undergoing vaccination.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said today that priority for the immunisation was given to personnel at high risk of contracting the virus.
He said the 3,135 personnel were from the six districts here, namely Brickfields, Cheras, Dang Wangi, Sentul, Wangsa Maju and Putrajaya.
Saiful said the immunisation which is being carried out at the Jinjang and Putrajaya health clinics will run until March 18 for the first dose and between March 22 and April 8 for the second dose.

KUALA LUMPUR: An Uzbekistan national who claimed he lost RM8,000 to police extortionists was arrested on Saturday after he was found to have lodged a false police report.
Brickfields police chief ACP Anuar Omar said today that the 37-year-old foreigner had made the allegations in a police report on Thursday.
He said the man who works as a craftsman in Shah Alam claimed that the cash was taken from him by police patrolmen at a road shoulder at Jalan Solaris 1, Solaris Mont Kiara here.
Anuar said an investigation was carried out and when the foreigner’s statements were found to be inconsistent, police conducted a raid at a premises on Jalan Selangor, off Jalan Travers on Saturday where several bank cards, banking slips and cellphones were seized.

KUALA LUMPUR: A Pakistani man and a local woman were found dead in a flats unit at Taman Seri Sentosa, Old Klang Road here on Saturday
Brickfields police chief ACP Anuar Omar said the 41-year-old Pakistani was found hanged from a ceiling fan at the living room of the unit at the flats on Jalan Sri Sentosa 9 .
He said a 53-year-old woman whose body was found in a bedroom and covered with a cloth was found with strangulation marks on her neck.
Anuar said police were alerted to the case by the owner of the house at about 6pm.
