Members of the Trumbull-Porter Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and members of the Charles Merriman Society, Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) celebrated Earth Day by helping to clean up the Old Burying Ground in Watertown. They picked up the 82 wreaths from the Wreaths Across America ceremony which had been placed on the graves of veterans buried in the cemetery and collected a number of bags of trash.

After the C.A.R. members cleaned up the cemetery, they held a short meeting and discussed what Earth Day was about. Discussion was held on a variety of ways to help reduce household trash or reuse or repurpose some household items. Members also learned about Charles Merriman, the namesake of their Society. He was a 14-year-old drummer boy in the American Revolution and is buried in the Old Burying Ground. They were then tr

The La Jolla Town Council will vote to fill six trustee seats by its March meeting from a slate of eight candidates.
Ballots are emailed to current Town Council members. The six candidates amassing the highest number of votes will be sworn in at the meeting Thursday, March 11. The term for a trustee is three years.
