stoke on trent s heritage is imprinted on its skyline. shaped by ceramics industry its economic fortunes have waxed and waned. deprivation levels here are high, it is one of the places the government s promised to improve opportunity. at the coachmakers arms, landlord rob was born and bred in stoke and he says he s heard such pledges before. i ve seen lots of talk about it, but no reaction yet. and we ve seen hoardings go up before, we ve seen signs go up before but not seen anything happen yet. so i d quite like to see something built and being used. there are plans to regenerate stoke, the vision is bringing heritage sites back to use, improving city centre foot fall, housing, education, skills, all backed by government funding. and in today s queen s speech, a promise to tackle empty high street shops. but despite the plans, with prices rising some say they are not yet
