our panel is back here to talk about some of the political losers, biggest political losers of 2022. celebrity candidates wiped out in this election why think about kari lake over in arizona. had been a tv anchor and wanted to run for governor. herschel walker, football player. excellent. terrible candidate. got beat. and then you have dr. oz, mr. crudite himself. a fantastic heart surgeon. from pennsylvania yet, many, many houses, and you know, it was i think people went into this thinking obviously these were trump candidates and maybe they could do what trump did too, right? he was a celebrity candidate. it helped obviously that he was a billionaire, it helped that he had a wife who looked like melania trump, and i think these folks didn t really pass the
some blocks long, just because they endured the rain and the cold and all kinds of tricks in order to vote, doesn t mean that voter suppression does not exist. it simply means that you, the people, have decided that your voices will not be silenced. cheering this was the last vote the mid term season, so what are the takeaways? well, it s the first midterm election since 1934 88 years ago that the party in power has successfully defended every incumbent senate seat. it puts biden in a very strong position for 2024. the celebrity candidates endorsed by former president donald trump performed disastrously, squandering winnable races across all the swing states. and thirdly, georgia must be now considered a true swing state.
and over the last three election cycles, we haven t won. and i thin nk to a certain degr we ve been fooling ourselves and gaslighting our members that we have, but we haven t. and so we need to changet some things. the mostlaura , number one , i on hold on , hold on , slowu res down. slow down.o sm you re so smart. you re putting out allreat i the great ideas. the major problem that you see that a major impediment and perhaps we re seeing this play out right now in georgia is what? well, the major impediment is that we are not chasing ballots. we are chasing voterse no with emotion and with celebrity candidates. but we are not doing what the democrats do, whichmo is making sure that we huncratta down every republican ballot and get it to the polls. and i mean, get it in early. lot i know this is not popular bu with a lot of republicans, but it is the reality in manyi just states . i just saw it on the ground in arizona and that is how the democrats run absolutely pathetic and medioc
halls or local voters. herschel walker, similar situation. this is a case where you want to have institutional knowledge of your state, of how democracy works, of how to meet and greet voters to turn them out, and celebrity candidates, yes, it worked for trump, but maybe cannot be replicated in every state going forward. that might be the lesson the republican party learns from this, we need to get back to the basics. we have said time and again on this show, everybody thought after ronald reagan won, it s transferable to the next candidate. no, it s not. there have been people in mike pence is the latest example who have been really bad imitators of what ronald reagan did and how he cocked his head, and they think there s magic. it wasn t transferable. barack obama s coalition, not transferable, and the fact that donald trump can do what donald
