Kildare County Council has put aside some funding for a playground in Ardclough but it is very unclear when one will be provided in the village.
At the January 22 meeting of the council’s Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District, Cllr Ide Cussen asked for an update on the status of the playground listed for Ardclough.
She was told that funding of €100,000 is included for the Ardclough playground in the Capital Programme 2021-2023, including €50,000 in 2022 and €50,000 in 2023
But the meeting heard that at least another €100,000 needs to be identified to pay for the playground.

Flooding concerns are affecting plans for the nearby extension of Confey Cemetery in Leixlip and alternative sites will have to be considered, a public meeting has been told.
At the January 22 meeting of Kildare County Council’s Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District, Cllr Bernard Caldwell asked for an update on the extension of Confey cemetery.
The members were told that recent investigations by Kildare County Council, in conjunction with the HSE, found the ground in the lands adjacent to the existing cemetery at Confey to be unsuitable for interments. It will therefore not be possible to extend the cemetery. “Alternative sites will have to be considered,” they said of the council controlled cemetery.

The approved social housing body, Cluid, expects to tender for a design team for a housing project at the former ESB lands in Leixlip in the first quarter of this year, a public meeting has been told.
At the Celbridge Leixlip Municipal District meeting on January 22, Cllr Bernard Caldwell had asked for an update of the proposed development on the site off Main Street Leixlip?
Members were told that initial proposals were prepared by Cluid and were recently responded to by the council’s Planning Department. “Cluid are reviewing comments and will develop a more detailed proposal. They expect to tender for a design team in Quarter 1, 2021.”

Work will continue on four Kildare County Council community park projects in Celbridge and Leixlip this year but the funding for them is unclear.
The council will work on a Leixlip playground, The Wonderful Barn, a youth facility for Celbridge and sensory garden for St Catherines Park.
At the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting on January 22 Cllr Nuala Killeen asked the council to outline what actions and preparations are underway to prepare projects for the municipal district where funding might become available throughout 2021?

A “commercially sensitive” issue involving NAMA is thought to be holding up progress on three planned new schools for Celbridge, a Kildare County Council meeting has been told.
At the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting on January 22, Cllrs Ciara Galvin and Nuala Killeen asked council officials to outline specific reasons for the delay in progressing the three schools campus in Celbridge and work to accelerate the outstanding issues with all stakeholders.
They and other councillors are concerned about delays and the councillors agreed to contact both NAMA and the Department of Education about meeting them as well as meeting representatives from the planned schools, St. Raphael s Special School, Celbridge Community School and St. Patrick s National School.
