By a vote of 3-2, Salem Town Manager Chris Dillon avoided being fired in a closed-door meeting in October, according to recently released minutes of that meeting.
At the heart of the Board of Selectmenâs private discussion were a police audit and subsequent criminal investigations by the state Attorney Generalâs Office.
On Oct. 19, Selectman Lisa Withrow made a motion to go into a nonpublic session to âtake actionâ on the town manager. The motion was seconded by Bob Bryant, who referenced the town manager statute, the tax collector state law and a number of ongoing lawsuits the town is facing in the aftermath of the audit.
