Democrats are accused of abusing earmarked funding to spend BILLIONS of tax dollars on woke projects including a $436M yoga retreat in New Jersey and $1M for cultural placemaking in LA
A decade-long ban on controversial earmarks - which allow funding for House members personal projects - has just been overturned
Since then Democrats and Republicans have flooded the House with funding requests
Funding requests include $4million for a science center, $407K for Native American arthritis, $436K for a yoga retreat and $250k for the Michelle Obama library
Sen Pat Toomey said the projects were incredibly abusive , and used by Democrats to buy votes
Lawmakers are putting in for police body cams, road repairs, community upgrades – and requests for funds ranging from a yoga program in New Jersey and a science center in Florida, now that a prohibition on earmark requests has ended.
House Republicans ended earmarks in 2011 following a series of scandals, but voted to bring them back in March, and the House majority voted to reinstate them.
Under new reforms meant to stem abuses, the House Appropriations Committee publicly lists members individual requests. More than 300 lawmakers have submitted proposals – although some critics of the practice have held back.
Congressional earmarks are back now that the whole House and the House GOP Conference pushed through changes. Lawmaker requests are now posted publicly on the Appropriations Committee web site

It’s no easy fix from water for agriculture to hydroelectric power to shipping, the dams support a network of diverse industries. But Simpson said in a video released over the weekend, dam removal is the only way to try to save these salmon from extinction.
“In the end, we realized there is no viable path that can allow us to keep the dams in place,” he said.
Over the last three years, he and his team held 300 meetings with stakeholders, including tribes, agriculture and power representatives, and lawmakers.
But he’s still getting pushback. Among his opponents is fellow Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Washington). In a statement, she called the proposal a “drastic, fiscally irresponsible leap to take.”

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved disaster relief requests for nine eastern Washington counties and two Native tribes impacted by summer wildfires.
That includes aid for the Whitman County towns of Malden and Pine City, which burned during a Labor Day wildfire that was fanned by high winds.
