FOUR years after the murder of schoolgirl Rachel Ramkissoon, her grandmother Kamla Ramkissoon is calling for justice and closure. Ramkissoon, who said her health has deteriorated since her granddaughter’s murder, still wants to know who killed Rachel and why.
“A young, bright life was snatched and up to this day no one can say anything. I want some closure, my family wants closure,” Ramkissoon said in an interview on Sunday. She begged the nation: “Please, if you saw something that day or if you know about what happened to Rachel, come forward. The family is damaged, we are still hurting.”

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court will hear on Jan 27 an application by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to disqualify former Federal Court judge, Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram, from leading the prosecution team in his on-going trial over alleged tampering of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) audit report.
Lawyer Nur Syahirah Hanapiah, representing Najib, told reporters this after the case came up for mention today before deputy registrar, Catherine Nicholas.
Also present was deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P. Kunyalam.
“Senior counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah is currently on medical leave, so the hearing, initially fixed for today, has to be taken off.
