The big music news in Wilmington recently is that the 7,200-seat Riverfront Park Amphitheater in Wilmington is nearing completion for a July opening. But, after a long musical drought imposed by the pandemic, it s perhaps just as notable that smaller, more intimate concerts in the Port City are already back, basically, with new ones being added every day.
In April, Wilmington garage rockers Kicking Bird played a scorching outdoor set at Palate, the band s first gig in over a year. That show was booked by Wilmington promoter Catherine Hawksworth, who also owns the Modern Legend record and gift shop downtown.
