Heaven on the Rock – a guide to the best food, beaches and sights on Gibraltar

Heaven on the Rock – a guide to the best food, beaches and sights on Gibraltar As told to Rachel Dixon © Provided by The Guardian Photograph: Cristina Quicler/AFP/Getty Images My best friend is Gibraltarian and I’ve been going to visit her a couple of times a year for about 15 years, first as a student staying in a hostel and more recently in nice hotels with my wife. I love everything about it. What I see is not the stereotype of little England in the sun. Yes, there are sports bars and you’re never more than 10 feet away from a roast dinner on a Sunday. And OK, there’s an M&S on Main Street, red postboxes and policemen wearing bobby hats.

CQUni student creates incredible 3D maps of Capricorn Caves

Premium Content Subscriber only Rockhampton-based CQUniversity student Lydia Georgeson has transformed an old map of the Capricorn Caves into a 3D version. Ms Georgeson, who was studying a Bachelor of Science (Applied Biology), collaborated with her supervisors, faculty from the School of Engineering and IT and her employer Capricorn Caves, to update the old cave map. She undertook this project as part of one of her university units. “The original map for the caves was used for tours from the late 1940s and has never been updated,” she said. The 23 year old said she used LiDAR scanner technology to develop the new 3D maps.
