Robbie Lawlor blew viewers away as he chatted candidly about the realities of HIV in Ireland on The Tommy Tiernan Show. The HIV activist has been raising awareness about the virus for several years now having been diagnosed with it aged just 21.
Sitting down with the comedian on Saturday night he was hailed as ‘fantastic’ by viewers as he spoke about his own experience with HIV and helped educate viewers on the condition.
He revealed that he was, ‘completely shocked,’ by the diagnosis as he was unaware that HIV was in Ireland when he went for his first check-up.
‘At the age of 21, I went for my very first sexual health check and I was just out of college. I was completely shocked because I didn’t know anyone who had HIV. I didn’t know HIV was in this country,’ he explained to Tommy.
