With on rejuvenating the economy and always health. Always health. Health and life living is number one. But the rejuvenated economy, and i think its going to be going quickly. Well be utilizing our robust Testing Capacity for the governors. Well be giving them what they need, if they dont have it themselves. We hope by now theyll be able to have it themselves. We were hoping they would have had it themselves early on, but they werent. Such great advances have been made. So well deal with them on that. They can rely on us very strongly. Theyll be relying on us. I think for some help, and were there, whether its building hospital beds, which i dont think theyll need. You look at javits center, a great, great job that the army corps of engineers did, fema got involved. We actually ended up sending our medical people. That was not a covid19 center, and they asked could you do that . Then even after we did that, it was not used very much. Meaning they didnt have to use

Insurance companies refusing to cover Mental Health care. Insurance companies refusing to cover maternity care. No free mammograms, cancer screenings or birth control. Insurance companies reinstating annual lifetime and more than 20 million americans losing insurance at the worst possible time in the midst of a pandemic, including nearly 2 million texans, 607,000 north carolinians, 227,000 iowans, and 2. 4 million californians. And the pain of losing these protections would disproportionately be felt among the 9 million africanamerican, latino, asian and native americans who gained coverage under the Affordable Care act. But this isnt about statistics. This is about millions of real People Living real lives, who deserve their government and its institutions to see them and to heed their call. And i know a republican member oh of this Committee Said earlier today that the people who will Lose Health Care are somehow not relevant to this hearing. I disagree. Helping these people is suppo
Doubled. Doctors and nurses fighting a war to save lives. Its a microscopic enemy and we do not have the arms and armor to protect ourselves or the public. And the millions of newly unemployed seeking relief. There is so many people. Im just waiting like everyone else, waiting. Tonight, Lawrence Odonnell and dr. Ezekiel emanuel on the challenges ahead. Which states will be hit the hardest. Are doctors any closer to a cure . And when its all over, what will be our new normal . This is a special edition of the last word, life in the time of coronavirus. We begin tonight with the numbers. The United States now has 364,567 reported cases of coronavirus and as of tonight, the United States has suffered 10,841 reported deaths from coronavirus. To put that death toll in perspective, that is more americans than were killed in the attack on pearl harbor and the attack on 9 11 combined. Both of those attacks sent this country off to war in foreign lands. This time, our war is here. And it is bei
Its going to get better and better. Results from this preliminary trial show remdesivir improved Recovery Time for coronavirus patients. 15 days in the hospital. Taking the drug, only 11. And while fauci admits the drug did not show a statistically significant benefit in whether patients actually died as of yet, i just spoke to a doctor involved in the remdesivir trial. He is much more optimistic. He says the expectation is that the more data that they have coming through is going to show a statistically significant improvement of people living. Sent the dow soaring today. But all of this comes in the context of americans dying. Tonight, more than 60,000 americans have died from coronavirus. It is more than a quarter of all deaths around the world. Out front now, i want to begin our coverage this hour with a coronavirus patient who was treated with remdesivir. Chris kaine was put on oxygen right away when he got to the hospital on march 9th. His wife told us he was in such bad conditio
Im erin burnett. Outfront tonight, were just at the beginning from the former director of the cdc, sounding the alarm as the death toll tonight stops 73,000. The number of cases, 1. 2 million. That death toll is now where the white houses model had estimated it would be in august. And the number of deaths and cases growing as more hot spots emerge across the country. There are only 13 states where the number of cases are going down and they do include, new york, new jersey and connecticut, three states hit especially hard by coronavirus and three states that currently are almost entirely closed. That is crucial because when you actually look at the number of cases overall in the United States, and this is an important point to make, can you see that line trending down slightly. Lets just remove the new york metro area. Lets just take it out, show you how the graphic looks. Okay. So this is a graphic from the New York Times which, as you can see, looks dramatically different. So the num
