Melerine Wins BESE Seat in Northwest Louisiana
The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) will soon have a new member from Northwest Louisiana to replace Tony Davis who resigned late last year.
The runoff for the District 4 seat on BESE matched Shreveport attorney Michael Melerine against LSUS professor Cassie Williams. Melerine easily won the runoff pulling in more than 23 thousand votes to just over 14 thousand for Williams.
Michael Melerine believes that school choice options enable families to choose the best educational environment for their children. The Louisiana Federation for Children Action Fund will continue to stand alongside elected officials, Democratic or Republican, who support parents and protect school choice programs that serve the state’s most disadvantaged children.
