When talk focuses on the word “impeachment,” most people think about presidents but only three of the nation’s leaders have been impeached: Andrew Johnson in 1868, Bill Clinton in 1998, and Donald Trump in 2019 and again in 2021.
They are a small number of the 63 impeachment proceedings Congress has undertaken since 1789. More common is the impeachment of those who hold federal office, particularly judges including a Cass County man.
Mark W. Delahay, a lawyer and newspaper editor in the town of Virginia before the Civil War, is one of 20 officials impeached at the federal level.

Robert Leamon looks at his high school girlfriend Angela Crocker as she prepares to testify against him in August. Crocker, whose maiden name is Snyder, testified she fears Leamon will come after her if heâs released, as he threatened to harm her before his trial if she told anyone he killed former girlfriend Becky Stowe in 1993. Leamon s life-without-parole sentence has been revoked.

The Burnettsville man who caused a Sept. 21, 2019 accident in Royal Center where his passenger’s leg was severed was found guilty of criminal recklessness, a Class B misdemeanor.
Brady Riley, 20, was sentenced Thursday to 180 days in Cass County Jail by Cass Circuit Court Judge Stephen Kitts.
Kitts found him guilty during a trial before the sentencing and also set Jan. 28 as a restitution hearing for Riley.
Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies took Riley into custody after the sentencing.
Riley’s attorney, Andrew Achey, said he plans to file an appeal and disagreed with what the official records from police state.
