Mike Benson, a member of St. Ignatius Parish in Southeast Portland, was presented with the Boy Scouts of America’s Silver Beaver volunteerism award April 22 during a special virtual ceremony.
The award is the top honor a local Boy Scout council can bestow upon a volunteer mentor. Recipients are selected by confidential nominations of adult peers, and only one award may be presented for every 60 troops.
