Gov. Tony Evers toured La Crosse s community vaccination clinic on opening day Tuesday, visiting the site at UW-La Crosse s Cleary Alumni Center that is the second DHS state clinic established thus far.

The clinic, being operated by staff from AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, is a collaboration between the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the University of Wisconsin System, the La Crosse County Health Department and other local partners.
President Tommy Thompson made the announcement Monday, Jan. 25.
Most of the 22 surge testing sites were scheduled to close, however, an additional 140,000 tests will be used across Wisconsin the coming weeks.
The extension of the community tests begin Monday at UW Oshkosh and will launch at other sites in the coming days. Not all original sites will continue surge testing. University s set up surge testing sites last fall and began testing in early November.
“We thank the federal government for their confidence in us, and we’re pleased that our university sites can continue to be used in the fight against this insidious disease,” President Thompson said. “Where there’s a problem, I want the UW System here to help.”

MADISON (NBC 26) â Community COVID-19 surge testing sites at UW System campuses will stay open into the spring, University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson announced Monday.
Most of the 22 surge testing sites were scheduled to close. However, officials in the UW System said the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will be providing thousands of more tests for use across Wisconsin in the coming weeks. Specifically, 140,000 additional Abbott BinaxNOW tests and associated confirmatory PCR tests will be provided.

MADISON, Wis. Community COVID-19 testing sites at University of Wisconsin System campuses throughout the state have been extended into the spring.
UW System President Tommy Thompson made the announcement Monday. It is unclear how far into the spring the testing sites are scheduled to run.
