For a good part of the game Sunday, the TinCaps seemed on their way to a series-clinching victory thanks to a second excellent start from reliever Matt Waldron within a week. The bats were clicking, the weather was warm and it was the first Sunday afternoon game at Parkview Field in 644 days, bringing back a mainstay event during Fort Wayne summers.
Then, the Lugnuts started hitting. A run in the sixth, two more in the seventh and four big tallies in the eighth sent to the TinCaps to a disappointing series split as they head out on the road to face South Bend beginning Tuesday.

Tonight s game was different than the TinCaps 13-run, 13-hit offensive explosion Tuesday, but it was no less successful.
The TinCaps scored runs on a balk, an error, a swinging bunt single and another infield single in a 6-3 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts tonight at Parkview Field that featured a little bit of everything and left Fort Wayne with its first back-to-back victories since the first and second game of the season. The victory propelled the TinCaps past the Lugnuts and into third place in the High-A Central East Division.

Luis Almanzar ripped a two-run single to center in the sixth and the TinCaps pitching dominated for a second straight night as Fort Wayne won 4-2 in the second of a six-game series against West Michigan.
How it Happened
After a three-run homer from Justin Lopez and a Kelvin Melean three-run triple in Tuesday s opener, Fort Wayne 0 for its first 6 with runners in scoring position tonight, preventing the hosts from taking advantage of some early opportunities. Twice in the first five innings the TinCaps put the first two runners on base, but they were only able to get one run combined out of those opportunities and that came when Melean grounded into a double play in the third. In the fifth, Jawuan Harris struck out with runners on second and third and one out and Melean grounded sharply back to the pitcher to end the threat.
