The Carroll County Engineer’s Office announced today (Tuesday) the Olympic Avenue railroad crossing south of the Carroll Country Club will be closed through the end of the week. Officials say the road will be blocked beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28 while crews from Union Pacific tear out and replace the crossing. Work is expected to conclude by the evening of Friday, July 30. Motorists are asked to find alternate routes for the duration of the project.

Although there are still some details to work out, a date has been set for the 2021 Chamber Golf outing, a staple event for more than 50 years. It will be held at the Carroll Country Club on Friday, July 16 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start and will feature the return of a new prize opportunity.
There are sponsorship opportunities for every hole with previous sponsors getting first right of refusal. Nees says in addition to the noon meal and dinner, there is a lot going on that day. There are fun activities at the holes, raffle drawings, flag prizes and more. They have room to register 36 teams and the committee will be meeting soon to determine the per-person cost. Nees predicts it will be close to previous prices, but may be up slightly to cover any increases in green fees and other fixed costs for the Chamber. In previous years it was around $90 per person.
