Calvert County’s Career and Technology Academy stepped back in time to bowl and raise money last Saturday at the 35th annual Bowl-A-Thon to fund upcoming skills competitions.
More than 150 students from Region 4, which includes Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties, competed in 25 competitions the SkillsUSA Southern Maryland Regional event held on February 3, 2024. This year’s event was hosted by the North Point High School Science Technology and Industry and Robert D. Stethem Educational Center.

For most people, it s not that simple.
Along the way, Isis Harris in Portland, Ore., says, I kept hitting walls and I kept running into obstacles. Then she took a course designed to sample different jobs in construction, and while wiring a light bulb, a switch flipped in her head. Almost five years later, Isis is finishing up her apprenticeship to become a certified electrician.
