MERIDEN â A local man faces charges after police said he accidentally fired a round from a shotgun into a neighborâs apartment.Â
Carlton Cooper, 22, of 100 Woodland St., was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and released on $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on June 25.
A second-floor tenant of 100 Woodland St. reported finding bullet fragments and holes in the floor, wall and ceiling around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Â
Police spoke with Cooper, a first floor tenant, who at first denied being involved and then said he accidentally fired a round into the first-floor ceiling while moving his gun, according to a police report. Cooper told police he did not think the bullet went in
