A lesson for Bahamian gangsters

The April 15 murders of six young Bahamians laid bare to the nation the root cause of the perennial murder crisis which has gripped New Providence for over two decades.
The root cause is the proliferation of violent gangs roaming the streets of the inner-city areas of Nassau, with certain impoverished communities being unofficially designated as the turfs of the said gangs – areas which are completely off limits to gang rivals, and possibly their close relatives as well.
The presence of a rival in an opposing gang territory would be interpreted as trespassing by his enemies, an offense that carries a stiff penalty.

This year was supposed to be the comeback year for veteran comedic entertainer Beekie Bailey, but 2020 had other plans. I was sick. I did an operation on my eye in 2018 and just when I was about to get over it and launch out now in 2020, COVID mash it up, but ah just so it guh. I just have to reorganise and come again, he said. Beekle Bailey has recorded a slew of new songs toward releasing a six-track EP. He hopes it will boost his musical career, which has floundered during the pandemic that forced the cancellation of several live events worldwide.
What s it about? An adaptation of the eponymous song by Renato Russo, a famous Brazilian singer and composer. After doing time in jail for killing the cop who murdered his father, Joao (Boliveira) heads for Brasilia where a distant cousin from Argentina helps him get a start as a carpenter s apprentice - as long as he sidelines as a drug dealer. He falls in love with Maria Lucia (Valverde), the daughter of a senator, who wants Joao to stop dealing, but his rival Jeremiah ensures that Joao has no hope but to stay in the game.
