My name is jasmine. Im 7 years old. I share my bedroom with my little sister. She is 6. Our big sister alyssa is 11. She has her own room. Usenia has autism. She cant talk. We all get ready for school together. Some things are really hard for usenia, like brushing her teeth. And brushing her hair. It takes all three of us to do usenias hair. Im delighted to convene this annual hearing to assess the art of alzheimers, from preventingm cognitive decline to ensuringo quality care for those living with dementia. Its always so inspiring to sit here and look out at betsy a purple. But its also a reminder that this terrible disease has affected each and every one of you in a personal way. Over the years i have met Family Members who have sacrificed so much to care for their loved ones living with this disease. Ive met americans living with alzheimers, with courage and determination. Many of you are here today, and we welcome you. Two years ago i met bob okeefe from waterbury domain. Alzheimers rant in his family. His father and older brotherr both had it. So bob decided to get tested early. He received his diagnos
One of the things to note on the impact, too, is we are finding that athletes are now failing the impact test on purpose so that their baseline is now lower to start out with. So that if in fact the concussion occurs, they dont have to get back to what truly is their normal baseline. But one that has been fabricated because of choices theyve made during the testtaking. So this is about changing the nature of this injury as well. And really getting people to care about their brains so that they dont make choices like that. And in this case, you mean, that that enables them to get back out on the field. Correct. It takes it takes their baseline and lowers it. So that their results dont have to come back to what is their normal baseline. I see. They wouldnt take that impact until the day after. Correct.
