Note, we are utilizing social distancing practices this evening, and there is no Live Audience for tonights debate. Both of the candidates for the open senate seat are with us and with the assistance from the league of voters, we are predetermined the order that the candidates will appear as they are questioned this evening. Thank you for the introduction but i want to welcome aei for inviting me to be here today earlier this month i have reflections on the last 50 years of the epa and laid out our plan for its future at the Nixon Library. Today i would like to explain based on what we have accomplished over the past four years how we will get to this future. It is incontrovertible today the environment is in better shape under President Trump and we found it. Since 2017 air pollution in this country has fallen 7 percent. Last year superfund sites the most in a single year since 2001 and b will list another 27 this year the epa is trying to finance more than 40 billion of clean Water Infrastructure supporting 7100 projects and 27000 jobs during President Trumps first term and they have recovered more criminal and civil appointees them the Obama Biden Administration did and their first term. Since then, millions of americans have filed for unemployment. Nearly one point 5 million have contracted covid19 and nearly 90,000 have perished from the disease. Is work in the u. S. Senate that much more critical and we respond as we respond to this pandemic and return to the economy. Second the highestranking office and the department of energy and the department has been playing a role in helping the nation fight coronavirus. The department of energy is a scientific powerhouse. This is a different world were facing. The pandemic has taken tens of thousands of americans and infected more than 1. 5 million and infected every single one. It focuses early on the security to the past few months. Including the nominee [inaudible] it is very different than my time in chairman.
