RICHARD NILSEN The Leader-Herald AMSTERDAM In an April 29 news release, Congressman Paul D. Tonko announced 10 capital projects for his constituents, two of which impact Amsterdam.
These 10 “improvement and community development” projects were compiled from across the Capital Region. He is submitting them to the House Committee on Appropriations in order to bring direct federal investment to the region under the committee’s new Community Project Funding (CPF) process.
Congressman Tonko said, “With the right combination of visionary leadership and investment in our communities, we can unleash the untapped potential all across our Capital Region in ways that will help our people, businesses and industries grow and thrive. The long-running dream of a grocery store in downtown Schenectady takes a step closer to reality Monday, with the public launch of the Electric City Food Co-op’s new virtual marketplace.
The online platform allows consumers to order food and goods from local growers and producers in a contactless setting. It is intended as a way to bring together a curated selection of products from across a geographically sprawling area.
Shoppers might find some of the items at the Schenectady Greenmarket or at certain retailers on any given week, but with the online platform, they can reserve what they want.
