Here’s all the latest fake news that’s unfit to print.
A Duluth man missing for an extended period on a trip through the heart of the city was found yesterday unconscious in his pickup truck right in the center of town.
Fred A. Tappet, a western Duluth fishing and lottery enthusiast, became hopelessly lost navigating detours en route to the North Shore for an afternoon of angling.
Duluth launched a folklore legend across America, taking the stories out of the lumber camps and onto the page, just as the timber industry was being played out in the Northland.
Even without this historic knowledge, it remains a wonder why there is not a trace of Paul Bunyan influence in Duluth. There once was the occasionally notorious Paul Bunyan Bar & Grille down on Superior Street, lost when the recently closed city bus terminal was put in.
Not a stitch of the plaid-wearer here. No Paul Bunyan convenience store. No Paul Bunyan shoe shop, bait store or clothing emporium. No Paul Bunyan trail. No nothing.
