The tiny rural Lambton County hamlet of Kimball played a significant role in this week’s $26-billion offer by Rogers Communications to purchase Shaw Communications and create a giant Canadian telecom.
While Shaw Communications is known as an Alberta-based company, its founder, the late James Robert Shaw, was born in 1934 in what is now St. Clair Township.

“It’s interesting that it all started here on a farm near Kimball,” said Laurie Mason, curator of the Moore Museum in St. Clair Township, where Kimball sits near Brigden.
