Alberta has seen a drop in known active COVID-19 cases since the start of October, when there were 20,215. But federal data shows Alberta still leads the country by a large margin, accounting for over a third of active cases in Canada. As of Friday, the total number of active cases in Alberta is 12,978.

Another 38 residents of Alberta died of COVID-19 yesterday as the province reported 652 new infections. There are also 1,027 COVID patients in hospital, including 236 in intensive care unit.
