DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake used a second half run to pull away from North Dakota for an 88-55 victory on Tuesday evening from the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
UND (1-8) battled an opponent that was ranked inside the Mid-Major Top-25 for the fifth straight game, with Drake (9-0) sitting at No. 7 in the most-recent rankings released on Monday.
It was the bigs who led the way for North Dakota, with Gertautas Urbonavicius tallying a team-high 16 points on 3-of-5 from the field and knocking down nine of his 10 attempts from the charity stripe. It was the third straight game for the sophomore with double figures, adding four rebounds and two assists.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) Lance Jones posted 18 points, seven assists, five steals and four rebounds and Southern Illinois routed North Dakota 85-64 on Thursday.
Ben Harvey added 18 points for the Salukis (4-0), who closed the first half with a 20-4 run for a 17-point lead. Trent Brown chipped in 10 points.
The teams will play again Friday afternoon, a test for when they go to their respective conferences, which will feature back-to-back games this season.
Gertautas Urbonavicius and Caleb Nero scored 13 points each for the Fighting Hawks (1-6) and Filip Rebraca added 12.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (UND Athletics) – The University of North Dakota men’s basketball team dropped a 85-64 decision to Southern Illinois on Thursday afternoon in Carbobdale, Ill.
UND (1-6) struggled in the first half against the No. 17 team in the Mid-Major Top-25, as Southern Illinois (4-0) used a 20-4 run over a nine-minute stretch in the opening stanza to build a 17-point halftime advantage.
Gertautas Urbonavicius had his best game of the young season off the bench, matching the team lead with 13 points on a 5-for-7 day from the field. The sophomore also grabbed four rebounds and sank three triples to pace UND’s reserves.
