Seyi Folorunso is a senior mathematics major at San Diego State who makes rap music packed with social commentary, clever wordplay, and a heaping dose of mystique. Under his stage name Caleb Hampton, he has a seven-song solo project, “Atuk,” along with several collaborations, features, and plenty in store for 2022. Hampton began recording music.

Since 1972, the California Raptor Center at UC Davis has rehabilitated thousands of injured and orphaned birds of prey. Each year, the center takes in roughly 300 sick or injured raptors and returns about 60 percent of them to the wild. The center also provides hands-on training and education to school programs, ecological organizations and the university community.
“We have multiple generations In Davis that have learned about the outdoor world from the Raptor Center,” said Dr. Michelle Hawkins, the center’s director. “Parents tell us the Raptor Center made such an impression on them that they are bringing their children here.”

Bob Dunning: Revisiting Fourth of July memories Editor’s note: The following is an updated repeat of one of Bob Dunning’s favorite Fourth of July columns.
For a variety of reasons, the Fourth of July ranks right up with Thanksgiving when I’m asked about my favorite holidays.
While most holidays come and go, my memories of the Fourth go back to my days as a kid growing up in this very small town that had but one elementary school and absolutely no stop lights.
There was a kiddie parade in those days, but it was always led by the flag-bearing color guard from the local ag campus. I presume they were in ROTC, but I can’t say for sure.
