Scouts BSA Troop 66 B and G from Woolrich recently volunteered at the Hyner Run Challenge. They ran a food/drink aid station on the top part of the race known as the S.O.B Mountain. The scouts camped the night prior to the race on the S.O.B Mountain. A beautiful sunset was seen, and Scouts took a hike down and back up the S.O.B Mountain while waiting for the runners in the early morning. Woolrich Troop 66 was happy to help out at the Hyner View Trail Challenge again this year and excited for next year! Scouting is open to boys and girls ages 11-17. Huge congratulations to Robert Lombardi, Ashton Peters and Caleb Frazier. These three scouts from Woolrich Troop 66 are now officially National Youth Leadership trained. The scouts went thru a six-day course separated into two weekends involving intense problem solving and team building activities as well as many presentations. One of the team building activity included setting a tent up blindfolded. The three scouts are some of the very few who have the training in our troop! The skills they learned will be shared with the troop in hopes of creating a more structured troop and meetings. NYLT is a course that centers around the concepts of what a leader must be, what he must know, and what he must do. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on how to. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.
