Officers say fleeing man hit speeds of 120 miles an hour in sports car
An investigation into a mail theft case which led to a wild chase at speeds topping 120 miles an hour has led to an arrest in Ventura County.
The case started last December, when several people in the Santa Rosa Valley area of the county reported having their mail stolen. Detectives say they identified a man driving a black Jaguar as a suspect.
In February, investigators spotted the sports car in Moorpark. They tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled, hitting speeds topping 120 miles an hour. The officers discontinued the chase out of safety for members of the public. The car was found later that day at Cal State Channel Islands. It was wrecked and abandoned.
