Health board to takeover Wrexham surgeries after GP partners resign

A HEALTH board has issued a statement to allay concerns in communities served by three medical surgeries. The issue of Hillcrest Medical Centre was raised at a meeting of Caia Park Community Council this week. Councillors said residents had come to them with concerns about what is happening at the centre after they had received letters. Betsi Cadwalader University Heath Board issued a statement to explain that the GP partners running Hillcrest, as well as Forge Road Surgery and Borras Park Surgery, had resigned. The practice will transfer to the health board on June 1, after which there will be a review process to improve services across the three sites.

Defibrillators to be located at Co-op store and estate office on Caia Park

A NEW defibrillator will be located at the Premier Stores shop on Abenbury Road in Wrexham. Clerk Michael Morris told members of Caia Park Community Council that the equipment would be co-funded with Abenbury Community Council as it would benefit both communities. Caia Park council is awaiting a reply from the Co-op on the estate about whether a defibrillator could also be located there. The community council also intends to locate a defibrillator at the estate office in Kinglsey Circle. The council will secure the potentially lifesaving pieces of equipment from the Welsh Ambulance Service. Caia has also discussed the placing of defibrillators with Offa and Acton community councils to avoid duplication.
