Hand was actually asked if he finds the puns and pop culture-y jokes funny or tiresome in a Zoom call with reporters after he signed a one-year deal in Washington on Tuesday.
“I think it’s funny,” Hand said of the mostly bad Spicoli and Ray Waltson-inspired humorous-ish jokes people like to make.
“My pitching coach in San Diego when he would call down to get me going, he would say, ‘Get Mr. Hand hot.’ It’s funny. I enjoy it. I would say it never gets old.”
