Most of the borewells in Varthur and surrounding areas were dried up owing to deficit rainfall last year and summer heat, thus causing an acute shortage of water. This prompted the elected representatives and the BWSSB authorities to take the decision to have a water filling point for Varthur and its surrounding areas.
The park, built by Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) promotes water conservation by putting up 26 models of RWH system. It also has five recharge wells to show the people how it was done in Bengaluru before the widespread digging of borewells.
Wipro has partnered with Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to receive three lakh litres of treated water every day. The water board, leveraging indigenous technology developed in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), set up three sewage treatment plants capable of producing zero bacterial treated water. Wipro will get its supply from Agara sewage treatment plant. BWSSB chairman V Ram Prasath Manohar mentioned that the partnership will help save and redistribute Cauvery river water, reducing pressure on groundwater. 40 IT parks have also shown interest in receiving treated water, contributing to the city's water conservation efforts.
