Health Officer Karen Sullivan said Monday that the fatalities all occurred in February 2021. The fatalities were confirmed through a routine reconciliation with state COVID-19 fatality data, and a Health Department review of death records. All three were residents of the Crest Nursing Home in Butte.
“Butte-Silver Bow sustained more fatalities per capita than the other populous counties in Montana,” Sullivan said. “The virus has had a tragic outcome for our county.”
In addition to the updated fatality count, the Health Department released other COVID-19 data in its weekly report. As of Sunday, April 18, the department was reporting 4,050 positive cases in the county since Butte-Silver Bow was informed of its first COVID-19 case March 13, 2020. Of those, 3,943 have recovered, and 22 cases remain active.
