You cant find a twobedroom apartment for less than 3,000 a month. Every year that goes by the area Median Income for San Mateo County goes up and up as more of our residents are displaced. It is directly a result of not building enough marketrate housing in San Francisco where the jobs are. 75,000 san mateo residents commute to your city every day in normal times. Im sure that similarly large numbers commute from the east bay as well. It is crucial that you make space to allow these folks to be able to live in your city. I take you all at your word that you care about lowincome people. I think that this is the wrong approach. If you look at the resolution it talks about 49,000 residents who are rent burdened.
