stomach, and of course to top it all off, the headliner at the event last, night was none other than trump s two shirted, strategic gene is steve bannon, a man with obvious contempt for american liberal democracy, who very clearly wants to destroy. that s aside from the fact that he s facing charges for defrauding trump s own supporters in his scheme to help build a wall in the southern, border only to be saved by donald trump s pardon, on his final days in office. we also know steve bannon was involved in donald trump s insurrection, plot he spoke to trump the week before, and encouraged him to focus on the date of january six. he was president a meeting the day before the insurrection. held to try to persuade members of congress to block the certifications of electoral votes. he s been quoted as saying on january 5th, and i quote him here, all hell is going to break loose tomorrow. the select committee investigating january six is trying to learn more, which is why they quite reasona
build a wall, and i thought why hasn t mexico been at the border saying build a wall, since all of our arms seem to find their way to the southern border. is this lawsuit going to be able to pass or is it really more of a symbolic gesture to call attention to the issue? i think there s two sides to this. one, they re certainly calling attention to the issue, and it s mind-boggling. i ve been here 20 years covering the violence in mexico. it often reassembles conflicts with human catastrophe, more than 300,000 dead over the last decade, mass graves. this spreads to central america and it s fueling many of the refugees coming to the united states. it ties many issues together. and i have seen more coverage on this firearms issue, it s mind-boggling, i ve seen more coverage over the last month than i have in the last 20 years. so it does raise attention to the issue at a time that the biden administration is looking
intelligence briefings to their line officers. that s something that we have heard a lot from these rank and file officers who lamented they felt like they were in the dark. other changes include enhanced wellness services, enhanced member protection which you were just talking about. the other thing i think is really critical is that january 6th exposed a woeful lack of training and critical incident response training that s changing. they have a flurry of new hires to usher in the operational organization when it comes to large-scale events. you told me the example they didn t know how to lock their shields together, to sort of build a wall of defense. yeah. there s a piece of video wh whwhere an official from mpd, this is hopefully we can play it later today, but my memory of the video is that there was a line of capitol police officers being instructed to lock their shields to create a minibarrier and they didn t know how to do it.
not just boots on the ground in terms of our military but boots on the ground in terms of our intelligence and law enforcement, so on and so forth. i m wondering why the president of mexico doesn t accept this? melissa: weaver they don t necessarily want to stand up to the gangs. this is what it looks like when the rule of law breaks down, you feel compassion for those people in mexico that are forced to live in this kind of situation and remind you why we uphold the rule of law here. jessica: i want to know the details of what this means if we were able to get militarily involved. but i do think that this is going to bring up all the conversations we had around the 2016 election and again in 2018 about the risks to our own country if we build a wall, after the president will jump on that. jessica kennedy: we have tk ourselves why this is happening,
