we did extensive markups this week, the ways and means markup took 18 hours, the markup i was in took 27. we had ample time to go through and offer amendments and so foefrt. it s mainly making sure everybody knows what s in the bill and what s not in the bill. some of your freedom caucus members know what s in it and they don t like it. think it doesn t go far enough in removing what obamacare did. it goes as far as we can. kelly was on a few minutes ago and she did a great job explaining how we intend to go through this in three phases. phase one uses a budget tool called reconciliation. we need 51 votes in the senate. the challenge with reconciliation is we can t do everything we want on the repeal side or replace side. we get the rest in phase two, which is what tom price could do as secretary of hhs. phase three is where we hopefully get democratic support, remove anti-trust

reporter: absolutely. i think you re going to see a campaign sort of directed at them. in fact, i just asked white house press secretary jay carney to give us more specifics if the president would be speaking to audiences of young people. he wouldn t read out any events on the who ahorizon but i think are going to see this because typically they are in lower income categories. typically they don t feel that they are necessarily likely to get sick so they re a harder group to basically encourage to sign up for something like health care. so i think you re going to see more events like the one we saw today, a really strong pr push by the white house heading into that period. kristin welker, thank you very much. coming up, mcdonald s is getting fried over an online budget tool to help employees manage their budgets. this assumes workers will hold down two jobs. they call it laughable, impractical. more on the debate and more on

democrats. not something supported by arp but in pursuit of strengthening social security for the long term, i m willing to make those decisions. the fact of the matter is, had the white house decided to withhold chain cpi from the budget not being serious would come fast and furious from republicans and taken hold and those in the white house where they have opportunity to deal. the president has been out in the public defending the idea as changing the cpi as a budget tool. why back off now? the only way the president s budget was going to be relevant coming two months late and after the house and senate already passed theirs was to use it as an attempt to start negotiation. that s what the white house calculated. the administration is making one caveat very clear. white house officials quoted in new york times quoting the following. the things like cpi that republican leaders have pushed hard for will only be accepted if congressional republicans are willing to do more on reve
