Buckeye Relief, the large medical marijuana cultivator and processor in Eastlake, is one of the Ohio market s latest marijuana companies to branch into retail, too.
When it opens its first dispensary planned in the hip Coventry Village area (at 1782 Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights) later this year, Buckeye Relief will become vertically integrated in the marijuana space meaning it has operations in the licensed business areas for growing, processing and selling medical marijuana. Achieving this brings economies of scale.
A medical marijuana company has begun steps to open a dispensary on the west side of Kent and will go before the city s Planning Commission tonight seeking a site plan review and a conditional zoning certificate.
Buckeye Relief, is a level I medical marijuana cultivator and processor based in Eastlake. While its products can be found in dispensaries across the state, Caroline Henry, Buckeye Relief s government affairs director, said the company is interesting in opening its own facility at 1181 W. Main St.
Henry said the spot is ideal because of its spacious building and ample parking. She said that clientele sometimes have a hard time finding parking around dispensaries and, because many of the people using dispensaries are disabled, more parking is always good.

Ohio is on track to more than double its number of medical marijuana dispensaries in a move that would increase patient access and potentially lower retail prices something Ohio s medical marijuana patients feel are too high by increasing competition.
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy, which regulates dispensaries in Ohio s Medical Marijuana Control Program, approved expanding the dispensary count by 73 at an April 19 meeting. (You can find the presentation submitted to board members in considering this action at the bottom of this story.)

Petitioners ask Ohio medical board to consider new medical marijuana qualifying conditions including anxiety, autism and opioid use disorder

The State Medical Board of Ohio has received 30 petitions for potential new qualifying conditions for medical marijuana that will be considered when the board s medical marijuana committee meets on Feb. 10.
The petitions include repeat requests for conditions like ADHD, panic disorders and terminal illness, among other conditions.
The committee will review the petitions and make a recommendation to the board itself on new conditions to consider. A final vote affirming any new qualifying conditions is required by the board and is anticipated to take place sometime during the summer.
