The final leg of an 11-day, eight-game road trip will wrap up this weekend when the Kansas Jayhawks play Western Carolina, Cincinnati and Michigan State in the First Pitch Invitational at Fluor Field. The Jayhawks are 3-2 through the first five games of the trip.

Jordan Sprinkle, Cole Cummings and McClain O’Connor each had three hits, as the Gauchos outhit the Cowboys 18-8.
Cummings collected the first hit of the Tucson Regional, ripping a one-out triple down the right field line in the first inning. With two outs, Castanon, in just his fifth game back from injury, knocked in Cummings for an early 1-0 lead.
After the Cowboys answered with an unearned run in the bottom of the first, the game remained tied at 1 until the Gauchos scratched out two runs in the fourth inning. Jason Willow led off with a bunt basehit and advanced to third on a well-executed hit-and-run. Catcher Gianni Bloom then laid down a bunt and brought Willow home on a suicide squeeze that was called out until overturned on review.

If you missed yesterday’s post, I’m spending a few days this week focusing on the college postseason, which began yesterday. For those who missed yesterday’s action, this YouTube channel and many like it post “highlights” consisting of the end of each plate appearance. You get a good feel for the flow of the whole game in about 15 minutes. They’re a great resource if you want to follow college baseball and softball but don’t have ESPN+. Below I have brief previews for the tournaments that begin today. This is done with a focus on the groupings with prospects, and the ones people can watch on streaming services (again, mostly on ESPN+). I’ll also be citing work from D1Baseball and
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks used a bases loaded walk to secure a walk-off victory in the series finale against No. 24 Oklahoma State, beating the Cowboys, 8-7, Sunday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.
The Jayhawks trailed by a run entering the final inning. Jack Wagner led off with a walk and Dylan Ditzenberger followed with a triple down the right field line to score Wagner and knot the game at 7-7. Oklahoma State followed by intentionally walking Maui Ahuna and Tavian Josenberger to load the bases.
Brett Vosik stepped up to the plate and earned a four-pitch walk to score Ditzenberger and secure the walk-off victory. The win improved Kansas to 26-23 on the season and 5-13 in the Big 12.
