For many players the event was used as trials for representative teams and for the upcoming interclub programme for Manawatū-Whanganui, with visiting players from Wellington, Auckland and Wairarapa chasing order of merit points. The members net was won by Jonathon Andrieux from Palmerston North on 140, with Feilding’s Bruce Merhtens on 142 and four players on 144. Palmerston North’s Casey Chettleburgh was the runaway winner in the Palmerston North Classic for women, shooting 155 and winning by eight shots from teenager Sera Raj of the Whanganui Golf Club. The women’s net was won by Pahīatua’s Lisa Cotton on 148, followed by member Shireen Harold of Palmerston North with 151.
