As Jenner explained in 2016, he gets more flak for being a Republican than he does for being trans.

Sometimes I think back on his American reign at the 800 and say This is really the guy that OWNED the distance? His form is crazy and he is all strength. The way he runs reminds you of your JV grinder on a high school team that everyone goes nuts for when they power through to a 2:09. Donovan Brazier, Clayton Murphy, and Bryce Hoppel have the quintessential look and speed of an 800m runner that I believe will be admired years in the future, which only adds to how odd it was that Symmonds was so successful with his body type. 30 years from now, a new generation of runners looking back at his dominance might be like: This was the guy? How did he do that?
