James Forbes
Former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), James Forbes has had his more than six-year-old criminal conviction set aside by the Court of Appeal.
The ruling, which was handed down Friday morning, paves the way for Forbes, who served the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for more than two decades until his 2014 conviction, to receive his pension.
The Court also ordered the state to reimburse the $800,000 fine paid by Forbes forthwith.
Despite the good news for Forbes, the much heralded and well liked former crime fighter who was often touted as being a future commissioner of police has indicated on radio that he will not be returning to the JCF. He had taken on a top job with a leading hotel chain following his brush with the law.

CONSTRUCTION COMPANY Tank-Weld has brought Christmas cheer to 2,000 Jamaicans across several communities, with grocery and toiletries.
“It came at the time when I needed it most,” said Nora Thompson, a resident of Rio Bueno in Trelawny.
Thompson has one son who usually sends money from abroad to support her, but she has not heard from him for the past four and a half years.
“It’s rough on me. I usually do a little sewing, mostly uniforms, but since COVID that has dried up,” she told
The Gleaner.
The 68-year-old shared that she is grateful for the charity extended to her by Tank-Weld and some of her loyal customers whom she has been sewing for since they were attending basic school.
