Hello, everyone. Welcome to the early sunday morning to the brooklyn book festival being hosted here at Brooklyn Law School. Our dean nick allard is here to welcome you. That dean has been a really wonder for bridge between the law school in brooklyn and the brooklyn book festival. Its on like to introduce nick allard to you all. [applause] thank you, professor. Well, welcome to all of you. Were so proud to be able to host part of the largest free letter very festival in new york city in one of the largest in the United States. It certainly is the hippest and most diverse book festival. So weve got that working for us. Also, welcome to the best law school in brooklyn. Some of you know were the only law school in brooklyn. [laughter] but, you know, we are the best law school in the largest and most vibrant borough in the greatest city in the leading state in the most wonderful country. So we have that working force. The first thing obama did when he came in was make that spending in iraq and afghanistan in the base line of the budget to make it infinitely into the future. We took that back and stopped that abuse with the budget deal going into 2011, the republicans in the house and senate. We dramatically have different parties, the Republican Party both willing to reform entitlements and paul ryan we talked about earlier has four times put forward a budget that reforms entitlements and keeps the country from going bankrupt. Today we know that these three writers are gifts to the english language. This morning, the first author that i will be introducing nonother than dave barry. Lets give him a round of applause before he comes out. [applause] we all know that you cannot do justice to his talents and there he is. [applause] you just cant do justice by reading has lengthy biography or saying that his new work, insane city, his first adult novel in more than a decade. He is an individual for over 25 years have appeared in 25 newspapers, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and its pretty cool. Like every other kid in the 305, i grew up relishing reading him and today we are hearing from a hometown favorite in dave barry. In our next author is roy blount. We are less than 48 hours into 2014, and the northeast is bracing for its first severe winter storm of the year. Its expected to wallop a wide stretch of the eastern see board from washington to new england. The powerful storm is threatening to bury parts of new york and boston under a foot of snow, a winter storm warning has been issued. The storm could become a blizzard with the metro area experiencing facenumbing temperatures nearing negative 10 degrees. New york governor is considering closing the major highways as a precaution and in massachusetts they are preparing for the worse, declaring a snow emergency with 18 inches expected in some parts of the state.
