EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Firefighters say a candle caused a small fire at an Evansville apartment on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Evansville Fire Department, the fire broke out in a second floor apartment at Diamond Valley Apartments on Brittany Court.
Firefighters say the resident had a candle burning on his dining table and thought he put it out. He was in another room when he smelled smoke.

Investigators say 24-year-old Brandon Forte is missing in the south Bibb County area, off Hartley Bridge Road.
The family reported Forte left his home on Brittany Court at around 8 p.m. Friday night. He is autistic and has other mental disabilities. His family also says Forte took his nightly meds, and some of them make him drowsy. Forte could be laying down near the Brittany Court area.
Forte is 5’7 and weighs approximately 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, that zips in the front, light colored blue jeans, and red tennis shoes.

UPDATE 12:40 a.m.:
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified just after midnight that 24-year-old Brandon Forte was located in Byron. The Byron Police Department received the Mattie’s Call in reference to Forte and found him walking in the business district, near the interstate.
Forte was reported safe and Bibb deputies met with the Byron Police Department so that he could be taken home and reunited with his family.
The Mattie’s Call has been cancelled. -
