MIAMI – A British Airways (BA) A320neo was forced to make an emergency landing after one of the Pilots fell unconscious at the controls. The BA640 incident occurred on Saturday December 26 at Zurich Airport (ZRH) in Switzerland.
After his Co-Pilot passed out, the Captain of the BA A320neo Airbus flying from London to Athens made a landing in Zurich. According to the exclusive by UK’s
Daily Mail, midway into the three-and-a-half-hour flight, the Co-Pilot had already complained of feeling unwell, prompting the Pilot to turn the plane around and return to London Heathrow (LHR).
The Captain then was forced to make an urgent landing in Switzerland so that he could be rushed to the hospital as the Co-Pilot’s condition worsened. The First Officer was taken to Zurich hospital and was later released after a check-up. The BA A320 had to wait at ZHR for over five hours before continuing its flight to Athens, Greece.

MIAMI – International Airlines Group (IAG), the owner of British Airways (BA) and Iberia (IB), is set to buy Air Europa (UX) at a reduced price.
The group is now set to spend about EUR€500 million on the Spanish budget carrier instead of the original EUR€1 billion originally offered. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, IAG worked to continually reduce the price and a deal has finally been reached.

BA CityFlyer to Operate Flights from Southampton to Europe in Summer 2021
(18 Dec 2020) British Airways has unveiled plans to launch flights to France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain from Southampton in the south of England.
Under a new agreement with Southampton Airport, the airline will operate up to 17 flights each weekend to 11 locations between 1 May and 31 October 2021.
“It’s great to see BA return to the airport once again and the range of excellent destinations on offer is sure to be a welcome early Christmas present for passengers looking to plan a European holiday next summer,” said Steve Szalay, Operations Director at Southampton Airport.
