“Apart from the fine lads who tried to save him on the street in Bantry, I can tell you now no one else was rushing to call an ambulance,” said a farmer friend of mine who lives outside the town. This rather harsh comment last week really reflects the divisive nature of prime suspect Ian Bailey’s life in West Cork. And now that he’s dead, the case has raised its fascinating, grotesque head once again.
